The Gurgaon police on Wednesday arrested a call centre executive for stealing cars from a posh locality of the city.

According to sources, Nikhil Chaudhary, the accused, used to work in night shifts in IBM and carried out thefts in the afternoons. The police arrested Chaudhary with a stolen car after a chase on Wednesday.

According to sources, Chaudhary told the police that he had stolen five cars so far. He was also booked by the Delhi Police sometime ago on charges of impersonation after he was caught taking an examination for someone.

“We received a call from a resident of South City I about a vehicle theft. Immediately the local police swung into action. The police gave him a good chase. Aware that the police were close on the heels, he rammed the car into footpath near Signature Tower,” said a senior police officer.

Chaudhary was trying to flee with a Maruti Zen car.

Although the youth was earning a handsome salary from the call centre job, he used to spend money lavishly, said the police official.

“Nikhil used to target vehicles without central locking system. He used to carry several duplicate keys. Vehicles parked unattended were his targets,” the officer added.
