Farmer suicide

A farmer from Rajasthan, Gajendra Singh, hanged himself from a tree at the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP's) anti-land bill rally at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday.

People near the tree tried to discourage Singh from taking the extreme step but to no avail. As soon as he hung himself, they brought his body down and rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, he was soon declared dead.

A note found on Singh that reads: Friends, I am the son of a farmer. My father threw me out of the house because my crops were damaged. I have three children. I belong to the Dausa district of Rajasthan. Please give me a solution how I can go back home. Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan. Gajendra Singh. (HT Photo)
