A 24-year-old pregnant woman allegedly committed suicide at her R.K. Puram house in South Delhi on Sunday. Nutan Mishra alias Baby got married to Amod Mishra just nine months back and was seven month pregnant.
According to police, the incident came to light on Sunday morning when Nutan’s brother-in-law found her hanging from the ceiling fan in her room.
He husband Amod works with a private tourism company and had left for a tour on Saturday morning.
“Amod used to stay with his wife on the first floor and his brother Promod Kumar Mishra stays on the ground floor. The house was allotted to his brother Promod,” said a senior police officer.
An SDM-level inquiry has been ordered into the suicide. Though the police haven’t received a suicide note, they were looking into the matter from all angles.
The police, however, are waiting for Nutan’s parents to arrive from Bihar before taking any further steps in the case.
“We haven’t registered a case yet as we are awaiting Nutan's parents who will reach Delhi tomorrow morning from Bihar. They were informed about the incident this afternoon,” the senior police officer said. Nutan’s father Upender Jha works in a bank in Bihar and is on his way to the capital along with other family members.
The police are depending on the woman’s parent for some clues. “The postmortem will be conducted tomorrow after Nutan’s family members arrive,” an officer said.
