The Income Tax department will organise two special camps, with sufficient number of counters at Mayur Bhawan (Connaught Place) and Pragati Maidan to expedite the process of filing of Income Tax Returns for salaried assessees, senior citizens and differently-abled persons.

According to the department, the camp at Mayur Bhawan will take place from July 21 to 23 and 26 to 27, and at Pragati Maidan from July 28 to 31. Special arrangements, with separate counters and help-desks will be made for senior citizens and differently-abled assessees.

“This year we’re expecting Rs 5 lakh I-T returns from these two camps having 264 counters. There’ll be a growth in e-filing, as the latter has a 15 per cent share of the total returns,” said Chief Commissioner, Income Tax (Delhi Circle 1), Meenakshi Singh at a press conference on Monday.

“Returns of only senior citizens and differently-abled persons will be received at Mayur Bhawan and Vikas Bhawan (ITO) from July 28-31,” she added.

The Chief Commissioner, I-T Delhi-13, R. Bhardwaj emphasised that the returns should be without annexures, and an assessee to get his refunds must furnish details of PAN, Tax Deduction Account Number (TAN) and complete postal address and the MICR code mentioned in the bank’s cheque book.

“While, on July 31, the counters will remain open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., on rest of the days, it’s 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.”
