Independent MP from Amroha Lok Sabha seat Harish Nagpal, who had sided with BJP during the trust vote on the nuclear deal issue, on Wednesday said he is hopeful that the saffron party would keep its "promise" and allow him to contest from the seat on its ticket.

"I was against the nuclear deal and had voted with the BJP. At that time, all senior party leaders and even RSS leaders had promised me a ticket for the upcoming elections. I am hopeful that they will keep their promise," Nagpal told reporters here.

Asserting that he will not contest from any other seat, Nagpal claimed that senior party leaders like L K Advani, Rajnath Singh, M M Joshi, Arun Jaitley and others had assured him that it is the party's promise that he will be allowed to contest on its ticket.

Asked if his statement before the media is in fact an attempt to remind the party about its commitments, Nagpal said that the BJP is a party that runs on mutual trust and he just wanted to clear his political intention before the world.

"I am the man who was promised a ticket from Amroha for my commitment to the party, I had assembled 30,000 people for Advaniji's Gorakhpur rally. What is one seat when I had voted for the country?" Nagpal said.

He added that if he was motivated by money then he would have accepted what was being offered to him by the UPA allies and ensured his ticket from the seat.
