In a joint operation, the UP Special Task Force (UPSTF) and the UP Police nabbed six members of a kidnappers' gang, including two women, from Bamheta near NH-24 on Sunday night.
The gang had kidnapped a Ghaziabad-based industrialist on August 3 and released him after Rs 35 lakh was paid as ransom.
Industrialist Puneet Aggarwal was kidnapped in a Toyota Innova car and kept in Dayanatpur village at Babugarh area on NH-24. A case was registered under sections 364a/411 of IPC at the Kavi Nagar police station in Ghaziabad.
Ghaziabad superintendent of police (SP) SS Yadav told Hindustan Times that R35 lakh was paid as ransom. The police swung into action after the victim returned on August 16.
Six gang members were held from the jungles of Bamheta village near Wave City area on NH24 in Ghaziabad on Sunday when they were distributing the ransom amount.
Officials said Harender Jaat, who worked as a guard with the victim around two years back, had planned the abduction to make fast money.
He involved professional kidnappers who had dozens of criminal cases registered against them in nearby districts.
Prime accused Jaat and three of his other accomplices are, however, still at large.
