An inquiry has been ordered into the death of a 20-year-old student, who hanged himself after being questioned by the police in East Vinod Nagar.

The police questioned Ajay alias Sachin, a class XII student, on Monday night in connection with the death of one of his friends, Ganesh Rawat, whose body was found in the premises of a government school in Trilokpuri.

“We will also question the policemen concerned,” said K.C. Dwivedi, deputy commissioner of police (east).

Ajay’s father alleged that his son committed suicide as the police harassed him during questioning.

The police have also registered a case under Section 304 IPC (death due culpable homicide) in Rawat’s case. Police said he died of severe bleeding.

Ajay was called for questioning with two friends. Police said the four friends were drug addicts and often went to Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Trilokpuri during the evenings.

Ajay’s father has denied that his son was into drugs. The police denied use of force.
