IRCTC registers 3.78L ticket bookings in single day

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) saw close to four lakh e-tickets being booked on its website on July 11, the highest figure so far for a single day.
"On July 11, we registered 3.78 lakh ticket bookings on our website," said an IRCTC official.
The record comes in the backdrop of the Railway Ministry launching its own e-ticket service on its official portal, bringing in competition in this space.
The official said the servers are also being augmented so as to facilitate ease of booking through the IRCTC website.
It is also in the process of adoption of latest technology for monitoring user profile to prevent cornering of berths by unscrupulous elements, payment gateway performance monitoring etc, the official said.
The Railway PSU has also introduced ticket booking facilities for air travellers besides hotel bookings, tour packages and cab services, "with most of them getting good response from users," the official said.
