Get out those heavy woollens, thick jackets and sturdy caps as winter has arrived in the capital and its going to get colder in the next few days.
On Saturday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 23.1 degrees celsius, two degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was 10.1 degrees celsius.
The chilly winds blowing all day made it quite cold. People were seen sporting jackets and woollen skull caps.
Residents are staring at a similar day on Sunday when, according to the meteorological department, the maximum temperature will be around 23 degrees celsius and the minimum 9 degrees celsius.
The sky is likely to remain clear throughout the day after some mist in the morning.
"Ever since the evening showers on Thursday, winter seems to have come to the city. We have started getting out the woollens out to prepare for the dipping mercury. And it's the right time, too, as every year real winter comes to Delhi in the first week of December," Pradip Rathi, a businessman from Vasant Kunj, said.
The meteorological department, too, agreed. "There was a western disturbance over north Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir due to which there was light rain in Delhi on Thursday. This caused the temperature to dip. It will go down further in the next couple of days," a Delhi meteorological department official said.
A huge rush was noticed at various markets of the city with residents out to get special discounts on winter wear and blankets.
