‘I made my wife fight elections’

Profession: A full-time politician. Kishan also has two educational institutions — RD Public School and VD Institute of Technology, an engineering college.

Education: Class XII pass.

Political career: Kishan was in Class IX when he was influenced by Sanjay Gandhi and Sajjan Kumar and joined the Congress. He became active in Delhi politics in 1991. He won his first Delhi assembly elections in 1993. “My name also appeared among the people targeted for the 1984 riots. That’s why I did not contest in 1998 but made my wife fight the elections and she won it by a good margin,” he said. Kishan contested again in 2003 and won.

Family: Wife Sushila helps in Kishan’s political activities. Their sons Rahul and Varun are training to take over the reins of the two family-run educational institutions.

Cars: Kishan travels in a white ambassador. His family owns a Skoda Octavia and a Ford Endeavour.
