Three senior officials of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), accused of raping a private firm executive three years ago, were given clean chit by the Delhi Police on Wednesday.
“No sufficient evidence has been found in the inquiry against the accused persons. Based on the findings, the accused cannot be prosecuted for the offences detailed in the FIR,” stated the closure report, filed in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Ajay Kumar Pandey.
The Crime Branch, which investigated the case, were in favour of acquitting Sarat Chander, Praveen Bhargava and Ramesh Thakur — all senior officials with DJB. The court, which has been critical of the slow-paced investigation of the case, has fixed August 2 as the next date for further hearing.
“Petitioner (alleged victim) is at liberty to file protest petition or objection, if any, on the next date of hearing when the report would be considered,” the ACMM said.
