To cater to the needs of the growing city that is “expanding in all directions”, the revenue department will
set up 14 new sub-registrar offices.
Senior Delhi government officials said due to massive construction and sale and purchase of properties, some sub-registrar offices witness huge rush every day, making it difficult for the staff to carry out its work properly.
According to officials, there are 13 sub-registrar offices across nine districts of Delhi.
“The new offices will be opened in areas, where the existing sub-registrar office is overworked. In the next few months, we will have three sub-registrar offices in each district,” said a senior Delhi government official. Officials said 500-600 property sale deeds are registered in Delhi every day.
The officials said the chief minister’s office has already given in-principle approval for the same.
Apart from opening new offices, the government has also decided to upgrade the existing offices. Sources said some of these offices exist in old and rickety buildings with poor amenities.
“After jacking up circle rates we expect to earn more than Rs 3,000 from the registry of property sale deeds. Since a large number of people come to the sub-registrar offices, we want to improve the facilities,” said the
