A 23-year-old pilot was found dead in the swimming pool at the farmhouse of an African country’s honorary consul in the Kapashera area of southwest Delhi early on Sunday.

Kunal Batra was a pilot with Jet Airways.

The police said Batra had gone to Pushpanjali Farmhouse to attend the birthday party of the son of the honorary consul of Togo.

“Around 4 am, someone at the farmhouse found Batra’s body floating in the swimming pool,” said K. Jagadeshan, DCP (southwest). “We received a call, and the police took him to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where he was declared brought dead.”

The postmortem report said Batra died due to drowning.

“So far we haven’t found anybody who saw Batra going towards the swimming pool,” said Jagadeshan.

The police were investigating whether the pool was legal.
