The three accused in the murder case of IT professional Jigeesha Ghosh said no to undergoing a test identification parade on Friday.
Seven eyewitnesses, including shopkeepers from Sarojini Nagar market, had been taken to Tihar Jail to identify the accused.
Police said the three men, identified as Ravi Kapoor, Amit Kumar Shukla and Baljeet Mallik alias Poppy, said no to an identification parade before a metropolitan magistrate at Tihar Jail.
The police said the accused were involved in four more incidents.
“We have come to know that they had also tried to break into an ATM in south Delhi a month ago. Their involvement in two other criminal cases is also being probed,” said a senior police officer.
“After they are produced in a city court, we would seek their remand for further interrogation,” said H.G.S. Dhaliwal, DCP (south). The police said they were banking on CCTV footage where the accused are seen purchasing items by using Ghosh’s credit card.
The three accused are currently in judicial custody. A fourth gang member, Vijay Kumar, was also arrested but in connection with the murder of television journalist Soumya Vishwanathan.
Ghosh was kidnapped on March 18 from outside her colony gates in south Delhi's Vasant Vihar. Police said the gang members killed her and dumped her body in Surajkund.
The gang allegedly withdrew Rs 25,000 by using her ATM card besides purchasing expensive shoes, watches and other items from shops in Sarojini Nagar market.
