Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vijay Jolly may be arrested soon, the police said on Saturday.

Jolly was questioned for the second consecutive day on Saturday for defacing the property of former Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury.

“Unlike on Friday, Jolly admitted to several things during Saturday’s questioning. Now, we have proper evidence against him. We have called him to appear again on Monday. He will be arrested soon,” said a police officer.

Jolly reached the Saket police station in south Delhi around 10am and was questioned for over 3 hours till 1.15pm, police said. The BJP leader had been questioned for four hours on Friday.

He has been asked to appear again on Monday to record his statement in the case.

A case under the Indian Penal Code and the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act was registered against Jolly at the police station on Thursday evening following the ruckus created by him outside Chaudhury’s residence.

Around 50 BJP members, led by Jolly, reached Chaudhury’s house and raised slogans against her. Jolly painted the name plate black and also wrote a word with black paint.

He said Chaudhury was suppressing facts against Tarun Tejpal, the former Tehelka editor accused of sexual assault.
