The clock struck two and HD Joshi, who was always on time, didn’t come home for lunch. Before leaving his second-floor Naraina Vihar house around 9 am last Wednesday, Joshi had asked his wife to make khichdi for lunch and said that he would be back by 2 pm. He, however, never returned.
‘We were to go shopping at 2.30 pm. Around the same time I got a call that he had been injured in the blast and had been taken to RML Hospital. We thought he would be fine after the surgery but he died in the operation theatre,” said Chandra, wife of late HD Joshi, while chocking back tears.
Joshi, a Naraina-based businessman was at Delhi high court to appear for a hearing on the poor infrastructure in the industrial area.
“He had filed a case against DDA, MCD and DJB for improper development of the area,” said his wife, who retired as a professor from Lady Shri Ram College six years ago.
Joshi is survived by his wife and two children. The much-loved man of Naraina, who ran a PVC footwear factory, was a patron of Naraina Industrial Area Association.
“Before breathing his last he took out his ring and asked the nurse to give it to our son,” said Chandra.
“I just pray that no more families are destroyed. My four-year-old granddaughter still asks when he will be back. I don’t have any answer to give her,” she added.
