Two dozen juveniles in a jail van tried to escape from custody on Friday afternoon.
Most of the inmates are facing charges of murder, attempt to murder and robbery. This was their second attempt to escape since Thursday, police said.
A police team was transporting the inmates from juvenile court at Delhi Gate to a juvenile shelter home in Mukherjee Nagar when the incident took place.
When the van reached Civil Lines, the inmates started to push open the van gate and also tried to break the windows. The driver of the van, however, took the vehicle to the Civil Lines police station and with the help of local police, managed to control the inmates.
On Thursday, 12 juveniles had tried to flee from the jail van by setting it on fire.
The third battalion of Delhi police, which is responsible for transportation of inmates, has filed a complaint with the Delhi police.
