Two Manipuri undergraduate students were allegedly attacked with rods, bricks and a sharp weapon by a group of men in south Delhi’s Munirka near Vasant Vihar on Saturday night.

One of the victims who sustained serious injuries is undergoing treatment at Safdarjung hospital in south Delhi.
The victims have been identified as Latgolen, 19, and Boilain, 22.
Timothy, a Northeast representative, said the crime took place around 9.30pm near Babulal Chowk in Munirka. “Four local men passed some insulting racial remarks. An argument ensued soon after. One of them called his brother who also joined the melee and attacked the two Manipuri men,” said Timothy.
According to Timothy, the victims were attacked with iron rods, bricks and a pair of scissors. “When the victims started screaming for help, some locals arrived to control the situation. One of the accused was caught by the locals while the others managed to flee,” added Timothy.
The victims were first taken to a local doctor’s clinic from where they were shifted to Safdarjung Hospital. Latgolen was discharged after preliminary medical attention.
