Delhi government has decided to 'partially' close the Kashmere Gate Inter State Bus Terminal from Monday.
Senior officials of the transport department said they are shifting the operation of 500-odd inter-state buses to Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan ISBTs.
Though the transport department had initially planned to shift all inter-state buses to the two other ISBTs, the plan was changed following the traffic police's objection.
"While the Rajasthan-bound buses would operate from Sarai Kale Khan ISBT, the operation of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand buses has been shifted to Anand Vihar ISBT," said a senior official, transport department.
The buses for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh would continue to operate from Kashmere Gate ISBT, the official added.
More than 2,000 inter-state buses catering to more than one lakh passengers operate from Kashmere Gate ISBT everyday. The buses are being shifted to pave way for renovation of the bus terminal.
