Barely five weeks after he started his blog, activist Anna Hazare on Saturday decided to discontinue it following a controversial claim by his Pune-based official blogger that he had made up his mind to change his core team.
“I have decided to shut my blog,” said Hazare in Delhi.
Blogger Raju Parulekar uploaded Hazare’s unpublished letter of October 23, in which he “spontaneously” wrote on “restructuring” the core team.
In a separate post, Parulekar also targeted Team Anna members Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi and Prashant Bhushan calling them “undemocratic, fascist and opportunist”.
The letter, which appeared on Hazare’s official blog on Saturday, is titled “Truth must prevail over Annaji’s letter regarding restructuring the core committee (complete story)”. In this, Parulekar said Hazare should be protected from “evil forces”.
The October 23 letter in Marathi, believed to be written by Hazare, said: “I am soon going to decide the restructuring of core committee and for that all others members are being informed.”
No names, however, are mentioned in this letter.
Replying to a query, Hazare said: “If there is my signature on the letter, then only you consider it as mine. If the signature is not there, then it’s not mine.”
However, he admitted he had thought of making changes in his team after hearing about the allegations against some of the members, but said he later realised that “crores of rupees” were being spent to malign the anti-graft movement.
Paruleker has also written that Hazare’s aide Suresh Pathare was present (when Hazare gave him the letter) and “he requested me not to upload Annaji’s this particular blog, at least immediately”.
