Khwaab Dum-b-Dum: Twin tales of love, friendship and tragedy
Presenting two different love stories and their struggles, the play, Khwaab Dum-B-Dum, will be staged in the Capital on April 28.
Friendship is the purest form of love and a bunch of talented artists will portray this beautiful emotion through a play, Khwaab Dum-B-Dum, in the Capital. This will be the first public show of the play. Directed by Manil Mayank Mishra, an alumnus of Kirori Mal College, (Delhi University), and small-screen actor, the play will present two different love tales at the same time.
“There are two love stories. One revolves around a captain in the army and a woman, who is a business tycoon. The other is about a journalist and an unsuccessful theatre artist. It is a women-centric play, which focusses on the emotions of these characters,” says Mishra, who is also playing the character of an army man.
Actor Riya Soni, who plays the character of a journalist, says, “Naina hails from a small town and wants to make it big in journalism in Delhi, but something about her life makes her hopeless and even she can’t point it out. This is when she goes to cover a story on a failed theatre artist and then comes a twist in the play.”
Another actor Shweta Handoo, who is playing the character of business tycoon, says, “This character is strong and intense. She is powerful yet emotional and heartbroken. I’m excited as this is my first play.”
What makes this play unique is its concept. Mishra explains, “We make original productions. Even our last play, Khushfehmiyan—bas itni isi, was a contemporary love story written by me. We present real issues through our plays.”
Khushfehmiyan... was turned into a film which was shot in Delhi. The team now plans to convert this play, too, into a film. They have also recorded an anthem for it, The Khwaab Dum - B - Dum (KDBD) Anthem.
