People who robbed and killed a Rajinder Nagar businessman have been visiting him for the past couple of years and knew precisely where he kept his cash and valuables, police investigation showed.

Pooja, 26 and her husband Sooraj, 24 had been providing prostitutes to cable TV operator Tarun Bajaj for the past one-and-half-years. Apart from these two, one Munni alias Moni, 19, and Mohit Sharma alias Sunny also provided girls to Bajaj, police said.

During questioning by the police, Pooja admitted that she is a pimp from whom Bajaj regularly solicited girls. Police said it was Pooja and Moni who planned the robbery.

Investigation showed that the four suspects visited Bajaj’s house when his wife was away for some work. Footage from CCTVs installed near Bajaj’s house showed two suspects entering his house in shirts and coming out in t-shirts, which they have apparently picked up from the victim’s wardrobe.

The police also caught an alleged call girl who had been in touch with Bajaj. She confessed that the four suspects wanted to include her in the robbery attempt but claimed she backed out, police said.

“Moni, who works at a beauty parlour, was the first to be arrested in the case from her home in Sultanpuri. Her interrogation led to the arrest of the other suspect who had fled to Dehradun,” Sandeep Goel, joint CP (central range) said.

Interrogation revealed Pooja and Moni had been visiting Bajaj for the past one-and-a-half years. The duo were aware that Bajaj was rich and kept cash at home.

Pooja and Moni arrived at Bajaj’s residence in an auto-rickshaw while Sahil and Sunny followed them on a motorcycle. While Bajaj was busy with Moni, Pooja gave a missed call to Sahil as a signal to enter the house.“They overpowered Bajaj and stabbed him multiple times. Moni and Sahil also received stab wounds as the victim resisted their robbery attempt.

The accused later fled with a bag containing `3 lakh cash and some jewellery,” added Goel.Goel said said the arrests were made by teams comprising inspectors Anil Sharma, Manish Joshi and others under the supervision of ACP SK Giri.
