The Ghaziabad police has registered a case of alleged ‘kidnapping’ against a woman from Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, after a Delhi caterer, who was reportedly having an affair with the woman, went missing on the night of October 14.

Twenty-six-year-old Arun Kumar, a resident of Bawana area of Delhi, went to Indirapuram along with a friend on the night of October 14.

Later, Kumar reportedly told his friend to leave. He has been missing since then.
Kumar ’s family has lodged a First Information Report at the Indirapuram police station, under Section 364 of the IPC, on Friday night.

The accused woman, who is about to be married shortly, was outraged by the allegations and said Kumar’s family was doing it to tarnish her image.

“We are friends and he wanted to marry me but could not do so under his family’s pressure. Later, my family fixed up my marriage elsewhere. He was depressed about the matter,” the woman told Hindustan Times (her identity has been concealed on request).

“When he called me to meet him, I refused. The police have also registered a case of kidnapping without going into the details of the matter,” she added.

When Hindustan Times spoke to Superintendent of Police (City) Vijay Bhushan about the matter, he said, “This has been done on the basis of what the man’s family members told us. We are investigating the case.”

“I have been cooperating with the police investigations and waiting in the police station since morning,” the woman said.

The police are verifying the last call details of Kumar’s cell phone. It shows that the last call he received was from a Delhi number.

The accused was also summoned for the investigations at Indirapuram police station and has been co-operating, a police said.
