With more than a dozen art galleries tucked away in the lanes here, Lado Sarai has become a favourite spot for art enthusiasts. However, for more than a year, the approach road here is broken and filled with potholes. HT South Delhi had reported about the problem last year, but authorities are yet to improve the situation here.
“It is difficult to reach the art galleries as the entire approach road has been dug up. If the situation continues, people will start avoiding this place,” said a caretaker at one of the art galleries.
Not just the visitors, the residents are also suffering. They said the road was dug for recarpeting a few months ago but the work was stalled due to unknown reasons.“It gets difficult to even reach our homes,” said Prateek Bhan, a resident.
Mukesh Yadav, spokesperson for South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), said, “Till few years ago, the roads in the area were under SDMC but now their maintenance is with the Delhi government. Our job is just to collect garbage and keep the colony roads clean.”
Meanwhile, a PWD official claimed the agency only looks after the main roads, the interior lanes are the responsibility of SDMC.
