Little boy falls to death from hotel
A two-and-a-half-year-old boy died after falling off the window of his hotel room in Paharganj on Thursday, reports Vijaita Singh.
A two-and-a-half-year-old boy died after falling off the window of his hotel room in Paharganj on Thursday. According to the police, Utkaladitya Singh was playing with his brothers in a fourth-floor room when he allegedly fell from the window at 9.15 am.
The family had to catch a train for Hyderabad in the evening. His father was busy packing the luggage, while his mother was having bath when the incident took place,”said a senior police officer.
The child was rushed to Sanjeevani Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The Singhs had checked into the Room No. 210 of Hotel Jindal International in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
“The child was playing on a bed adjacent to the window. He climbed up the window, which had curtains drawn to it. The child was unaware that there was no grill in it and fell,” said the officer.
The boy’s father, RK Singh, is a businessman. He had come to Delhi with his entire family. “We were returning after a pilgrimage. It has turned into a tragedy,” said Ranjani Singh, the child’s aunt.
The child’s family demanded that the hotel’s owner be booked for negligence. “We had booked an air-conditioned room. What was the need for the hotel staff to leave the windows open and draw the curtains over it? An innocent life has been lost,” said Ranjani.
The police have, however, not yet registered any case.
