A 32-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death with a frying pan by her husband, who hid her body in a bed box, because he suspected that she was having an affair.

The incident was occurred in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area on Tuesday.

Sharafat (33), Kavita’s husband, was arrested from Bulandshahr, where he fled to with his three children.

He was produced before a city court, which sent him to 14 days in judicial custody, a senior police officer said.

According to the police, the incident came to the fore after Sharafat’s uncle, Sarfaraz, called the police around 730PM on Tuesday informing them that Sharafat had come to the village with his three children after murdering his wife.

The police team reached Sharafat’s residence to find his wife’s body dumped in the bed box wrapped with layers of sheets.

“A blood-stained frying pan (tava) that Sharafat allegedly used to thrash his wife was seized from the spot. A case of murder was registered at Malviya Nagar police station and a team was sent to Bulandshahr to arrest Sharafat.

He was arrested on Wednesday and brought to Delhi,” a senior police officer said.

During questioning, Sharafat confessed to the murder and told the police that he killed his wife because he suspected her of having several extra-marital affairs.

Early on Tuesday, the couple reportedly had an argument over the issue and Sharafat attacked Kavita with the pan.

He hit her on the head and face repeatedly with the pan till she collapsed and bled to death.

The neighbours told the police that off late the couple had several arguments. Investigation in the case is going on, police said.
