Fifty-year-old Bhram Pal Singh said desperation had driven him to extremes.

On Monday, he was arrested for defacing posters of UP CM Mayawati inside the District Headquarters. Singh, who claimed to be the founder of ‘Azad Police’ organisation and a writer, entered the district headquarters and defaced the hoardings with developmental policies of the state government. The hoardings were put up inside the district headquarters near the entrance of the Ghaziabad District Magistrate’s office. Singh was detained at the spot.

A resident of Nand Gram in Ghaziabad, Singh said, “For the past 20 years I have been trying to get back Rs 8,000 on account of a story written by me which was stolen by somebody. I requested officials to intervene but no one heard me.” “I had also informed the district officials last month that I would paint the CM’s hoardings.”

Kavi Nagar SHO Inspector Rajesh Chaudhary said Singh was arrested for causing damage to government property and booked under section 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.) of IPC.
