A car salesman bore a potential customer’s tantrums over two consecutive days, got lured to adjacent Noida to meet his non-existent wife only to be shooed out of the spanking new SUV he’d brought on a test-drive this Wednesday.

Sunil Kumar, who works for an auto dealership in south Delhi’s Moti Nagar, had an innocuous, first meeting with his would-be nemesis on May 29. “I was assigned to drive a new, silver Renault Koleos, which costs between Rs. 22 and Rs. 25 lakh, to a man called Mukesh who met me in Khan Market on the day before I got robbed,” Kumar told the police.

According to Kumar, Mukesh got into the car and drove him around the Lodhi Road area for half-an-hour. “He told me to get the car serviced and bring it back for another test drive. This time, we drove around Lodhi Colony and Lodhi Road area for 45 minutes before he told me that he would need his wife’s go-ahead before finalising the deal,” Kumar said.

Mukesh then drove to Noida at the pretext of showing his wife the car. Soon he, chucked the plan and turned toward Delhi. “As soon as we turned onto the DND, he showed me some kind of a weapon and intimidated me before dropping me on the roadside,” Kumar said.

“He even took my personal diary and the two phones I was carrying,” Kumar said.
