A 25-year-old complaint officer of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), who was reportedly missing for the last three days, was found dead in mysterious circumstances in a water tank in Greater Kailash area of southeast Delhi on Monday afternoon, police said.
Police said that the deceased has been identified as Nitin alias Monu, a resident of Dakshinpur block number 3 of Greater Kailash Part-I.
“Nitin was reported missing three days ago and his family members had complained at the Greater Kailash police station. Today at around 2 pm his body was recovered from a water tank in the Krishi Vihar area,” said Virender Singh Chahal, additional commissioner of police (southeast).
Police said the victim was identified after a tattoo of his nick name, Monu, was discovered on his body. He was employed with CPWD as a complaint officer.
“One of the residents of the Krishi Vihar area found him in the water tank in an open ground after which he informed the police,” said a senior police officer.
The officer said that Nitin’s body has been sent for medical examination to ascertain the cause of his death. “We have registered a case of murder against unidentified persons in the matter and are investigating it,” added the officer.
