The woman in her complaint told the police that the accused was an acquaintance and he held her hostage for a night.

"Kumar had proposed to her a month ago, but she rejected. Last week, he abducted her and took her to a Gurgaon hotel. There he tried to rape her. Next day he took her to Dhaula Kuan and threatened her not to a lodge complaint," said a police officer. Police said they have checked the hotel records and the man has checked-in on the fateful night and left the hotel in the morning.

"After the incident, the two had come to the police station and gave it in written that they have gone on their own. The woman later claimed she was abducted," the officer said.
