A 65-year-old man allegedly jumped to death before a train at the Botanical Garden Metro station on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place on the Noida-Dwarka Metro line around 2.52pm. The Metro staff said the incident was so sudden that the train driver could not apply the brakes in time.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as CS Joshi, a resident of Jal Vayu Vihar in Greater Noida. Joshi was a retired commandant from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). The police said he was taken to the district hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

"Joshi entered the Metro station at 2:43 pm. He jumped before the train around 2:52 pm. The driver applied the emergency brakes, but it was too late. Joshi had already come under the wheels of the train and died," said a Metro official.
