His child died in his village in Bihar. He wanted to go and attend the funeral. His older brother objected and then beat him to death.

Delhi Police have arrested Munna Pandit, a factory worker, for his younger brother Meghnat Pandit's (21) murder. His reason: the child is already dead, what is the use of going back?

But it was Munna who informed the police that some unidentified men have murdered his brother outside a factory in Sector-3 DSIDC in Bawana where he was on duty.

Police said they were informed on Wednesday that a dead body was lying at H-193, Sector 3 DSIDC Bawana. The body was lying in a pool of blood. The police registered a case of murder.

But it was the suspicious behaviour of the older brother that raised doubts in police's mind. "He was constantly changing his version during interrogation. Later he broke down and confessed to killing his younger brother," said BS Jaiswal, DCP (outer).

Munna has five brothers, including the one who was murdered, and a sister. Meghnat's wife has been informed about the incident.

The DCP said, "Meghnat was insisting on going to his village for his child's funeral. But his brother said he (Meghnat) may lose his job here and told him not to go. He said the child is already dead, what's the use of going now."

However, the victim was adamant and this irked his brother.

In a fit of rage, he hit his brother with a wooden stick that led to the latter's death.
