A man who suspected his wife of having an affair with their neighbour murdered her alleged lover by repeatedly running his car over him at Mangolpuri in Outer Delhi on Friday, police said.

The police said Pawan Kumar (32) shouted in jubilation after running his Mahindra Scorpio over 28-year-old Sanjeev Kumar.

DCP (Outer) Atul Katiyar said: “Pawan Kumar has been arrested and a case of murder has been lodged against him.”

Pawan Kumar had earlier asked his wife and Sanjeev Kumar to end their alleged relation. The police said when the accused came to know that Sanjeev Kumar had met his wife despite his warning, he decided to kill him.

Police said the victim, a resident of Kirari village, was training to be a teacher. The accused also lives in Kirari and runs a utensils shop.

They said Pawan Kumar stalked the victim and waited for him outside his house. “Pawan Kumar followed Sanjeev Kumar for a short distance and then hit his motorcycle with his car,” said Katiyar.

“After he fell, he ran the Scorpio over the victim at least three times.”

The police quoting a few eyewitnesses said Pawan Kumar got out of the car and shouted, “I have won”, in jubilation.
