A 28-year-old woman has filed a complaint against her husband for posting her photographs with inappropriate comments on a social networking website. An FIR under Information Technology Act has been registered against the husband - Sarwan Kumar - who works as a gym instructor in a five-star hotel in the Capital.
"Kumar started harassing me soon after we got married three years ago. Facing continuous torture, I filed a complaint at the Delhi Police's Crime Against Women (CAW) cell. They hardly took any action. In March this year, I noticed my husband had posted my photographs along with abusive comments on Orkut," Shradha (name changed), the victim, said.
Shradha also alleged that Kumar had been torturing her for dowry. Kumar has also reportedly moved an application for divorce.
Shradha had informed the local police about the incident but when they did not take any action, she moved the court which ordered Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police to register an FIR.
"I was harassed mentally and physically. The police did not arrest him," she added. Shradha has also provided the police the Kumar's email id. The police have now written to the website owner to block those pages.
In her complaint, Shradha, a resident of south Delhi, has also alleged that Kumar used to abuse and threaten her and her family members.
"After court's directions, we have filed an FIR and will call Kumar for questioning. We are also collecting necessary evidence from the social networking website," a senior police officer requesting anonymity said.
