A man was arrested in Mumbai for allegedly lifting a laptop from an electronic store at Delhi airport. The accused, identified as Arun Jadhav, was arrested soon after he landed at the Mumbai airport.

By the time the theft was noticed by the store owner, Jadhav, a resident of Borivali in Mumbai, had already boarded a flight to the city. “The theft was reported from a Croma store at the Security Hold Area (SHA) of Terminal 1D of Delhi airport. The store owner immediately informed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Delhi Police,” said a CISF officer.

“In the CCTV camera footage, Jadhav was seen roaming around the store and looking for an appropriate opportunity. When he noticed the store owner and staff busy, he disconnected a wire from the laptop and kept it in his bag. We traced his movement till the boarding gate and found that he was travelling by a GoAir flight to Mumbai,” he said.

By then, the manager of the store had filed a police complaint. After learning that Jadhav had travelled by a GoAir flight to Mumbai, the CISF, with the help of the airline officials, informed the authorities in Mumbai. “Our men were alerted. As soon as the flight landed in Mumbai, our officials took him in custody,” he added.

Later, Jadhav was handed over to the Mumbai Police. “As the case has been filed at Palam police station, he will be brought here. We’ve sent an officer to take him in custody,” said a Delhi Police officer.
