Two minor girls were raped in Delhi on Wednesday in separate incidents both by people known to them. Both accused have been apprehended.

In the first incident, a 35-year-old man was arrested for raping his daughter. Police said the accused had been raping the 11-year-old girl for the past three months in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar. The accused had threatened the victim of dire consequences if she would reveal anything to her mother.

Police said the incident came to light after the girl’s mother approached the local police on Wednesday morning. The girl told her mother that her father used to rape her whenever her mother was out of home for work. “While the mother kept the incident to herself through the night and did not directly confront her husband. She took her daughter to the police station in the morning and lodged a complaint,” said a police official.

Police have arrested the accused father and are questioning him.

In the second case reported from Central Delhi’s Anand Parbat on Tuesday evening, a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour. Police said the accused, also a minor, has been apprehended.

According to the family members of the girl, the 16-year-old neighbour lured the victim to his house on pretext of buying her a candy and then tried to force himself upon her. The incident came to light when the girl began crying, sensing foul-play the family members rushed to her rescue and caught the juvenile red-handed.

Police said a case of rape and other relevant sections of Prevention of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered at the Anand Parbat police station.

The juvenile, a school dropout, has been sent to a correction home for boys.
