Singhal has a family business of pulses and has a shop in Naya Bazaar. The business is managed by his three sons.
Education: Graduation from Delhi University.
Political Career: Singhal, who is Minister of Industries in the present government, was elected as a municipal councillor in 1977. He launched ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ in 1977 after arrest of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and was imprisoned for 15 days. He was elected to the second Delhi Legislative Assembly in 1998 and was chief whip of Congress.
Family: Wife Angoori Devi is a homemaker. They have three sons and two daughters. Whenever Singhal has some free time, he watches TV or catches up on sleep. “I usually wake up at 6 a.m. and sleep by midnight. I love to take a nap whenever I find time,” he said.
Cars: Singhal travels in an ambassador car. “We have 5-6 cars that my sons drive but I never use them and don’t even know what make they are,” he said.
