The daring daylight robbery in Defence Colony resulted in choked roads in the afternoon as several police pickets were stationed on major roads. The barricades slowed down traffic movement and led to snarls.

Some roads that saw major miles-long queues since the afternoon included those connecting Jasola with Kalindi Kunj, the IGI Airport road, Punjabi Bagh, Aurobindo Marg, Connaught Place, Mathura Road, Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, and all national highways.

Traffic snarls were also reported from roads connecting Moolchand with Ashram Chowk, AIIMS Hospital, Saket and ITO.

“Traffic slowed down at many places but never got out of control. The situation improved before the evening peak hours,” said Satyendra Garg, JCP (traffic).“Though the barricades caused a lot of inconvenience to commuters, it was a necessary preventive measure. Roads around border areas, were on red alert,” a senior police officer said.
