A 30-year-old Manipuri woman was stabbed by an unidentified man in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka on Monday night, police said.

The crime took place at 8.15pm in Sector-22, Dwarka.

The victim, Silvia Viphei, works with a BPO in Gurgaon, police said. She lives in a rented accommodation in Dwarka Sector-22. She suffered stab wounds in her neck and leg and is undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Dwarka.

A senior police officer said the crime took place when Silvia was going home from Dwarka Sector-22 market. “When she was going home, a man approached her. She had a brief discussion with him after which she was attacked with a sharp weapon. After attacking the woman, the man fled,” said a police officer.

While some locals rushed Silvia to a nearby hospital, one of the onlookers called the police control room. “The condition of the woman is out of danger and she is recuperating at the hospital. A case has been registered at the Dwarka Sector-23 police station. Efforts are on to identify the culprit,” said the officer.
