MCD election: AAP launches survey-cum-campaign to reach out to voters

The party has been conducting door-to-door campaign for the past fortnight, with teams being led by councillors and party legislators separately.

As part of its MCD election campaign, the Aam Aadmi Party has started a survey across the city, with the twin aim of gauging people’s mood and reminding the electorate about the ‘failures’ of the BJP-ruled MCDs and ‘achievements’ of the Arvind Kejriwal government.

Besides straight questions — like which party are the respondents likely to vote for in the April 23 municipal elections — the 12-point questionnaire being used in the survey includes questions such as people’s knowledge about the key responsibilities of the MCDs.

Sample these: Do you know who is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the city, BJP-ruled MCDs or the Kejriwal government? Another question reads ‘Do you think the BJP and Congress have over the past two decades converted the city into a garbage dump?’. The nature of questions is similar to the underlining theme of the video campaign of Arvind Kejriwal.

AAP leaders said the questionnaire in a way was a “campaign through survey”. “The questionnaire is carried by the party volunteers during their door-to-door campaign. While it helps in communicating the party’s message, it also helps in understanding the opinion of the people and their mood,” a senior party leader said.
