MCD officer commits ‘suicide’
A 41-year-old chief medical officer (CMO) in-charge of two MCD-run dispensaries allegedly committed suicide on Saturday by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house in south Delhi's Govindpuri.

Family members of Sushma Rani Singh, the victim, claimed foul play and accused her husband Khalil Ansari of murdering the senior civic official. However, the police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against unknown persons.
Police have recovered a two-page note from the house that was purportedly written by Sushma in the month of January. In the note, Sushma mentioned that she was being harassed by one Gurcharan Singh, who had loaned Rs 4-5 lakh from her. It also noted that instead of returning the money, Singh was threatening her that he would kill her entire family, police said.
While Singh is being questioned by the police, Sushma's family has raised a question mark on the authenticity of the note. They claimed that it was not Sushma’s handwriting.
"Sushma has been murdered by her husband and, being a lawyer, he is trying to mislead the investigators by presenting a fabricated note," alleged Sushma's elder sister Santosh, outside AIIMS mortuary where Sushma's post mortem examination was conducted by a panel of doctors on Saturday afternoon.
Sushma's husband, Ansari, said: "We were a happy family and there were no problems between us. The allegations against me are baseless."
Sushma's brother, Jugal Kishor — a senior doctor at Maulana Azad Medical College — said he received a call at 12.15 am from Ansari informing him that Sushma had committed suicide.
"I could not believe it because I had met my sister just three hours ago at her house. We suspect foul play because when I reached her home, they had already taken her to Batra Hospital without even informing the police. I called up the police at 1.10 am," said Kishor, accusing Ansari of torturing Sushma for the past eight years.
According to police, Sushma's children, a domestic help and Ansari were present in the house at the time of incident.
"What happened between 10 pm and 12 am is a matter of investigation," the senior officer added.
Sushma had a love marriage with Ansari 15 years ago. They have two children — Sara (13) and Faisal (10).
