A 32-year-old primary school teacher, who went missing two days ago, was found murdered at Sapla village in Rohtak district in Haryana on Friday night.

The deceased identified as Vijay Kumar was last seen with his colleague Arvind Azad (25).

Vijay’s family had lodged a missing person’s complaint on Wednesday with the west Delhi police when he did not return home.

Police said Vijay, a resident of Nangloi, had gone to attend a lunch party inside the premises of a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) school in Khyala on Wednesday. The party was hosted by Azad, who had completed four years in the school and organised a lunch for everyone.

“Vijay was not keeping well and he refused to eat anything. Azad bought fruit juice for him. After consuming the juice he started vomiting and Azad volunteered to take him to a nearby nursing home. Both, however, did not return and Vijay’s body was found in Sapla village on Friday night,” said V Renganathan, deputy commissioner of police (west).

The Haryana police identified Vijay’s body from his shirt collar. “It bore the details of the tailor who stitched the shirt for him. The tailor told them that Vijay had been missing from his house. A team was sent to the village and Vijay’s body was identified,” added Renganathan.

Police said Azad has been missing ever since with his car.

“Vijay had an injury mark on his head, while Azad is still missing. We had registered a case of abduction and have now added murder to it as well,” said Renganathan.

Police said they were further investigating the case.
