The Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s (MCD) education department has written to Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit demanding that the 400 middle schools taken away by the Delhi government under an agreement in 1970 be returned to the civic body for “better implementation” of the Right to Education Act 2009. It also demanded additional funds for the Act’s implementation.

The letter was written by MCD education committee chairman Mahender Nagpal who stated that move would enable the upgradation of MCD primary schools up to middle school level for complete implementation of the Right to Education Act, 2009.
