The Delhi Police on Tuesday slapped the stringent Maharashtra Control of Criminal Activities (MCOCA) act against the infamous and high-profile lady pimp Sonu Punjaban.

Punjaban is alleged to be involved not only in running several prostitution rackets but also in a series of cases including murder.

"Punjaban, 30, is a high-end pimp and has a number of high-class sex workers in her muster roll. She supplies them at posh parties organised at several locations across the capital including five-star hotels and farm houses," said a senior police officer.

Police said Punjaban was arrested from south Delhi's Mehrauli on April 1. Under MCOCA the accused cannot obtain bail easily and any statement recorded in front of a police officer of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) rank is deemed admissible as evidence in court.

"She decided to enter the flesh trade to support her lavish life style. Initially, she worked alone but later, as more and more high profile clients became her customers, she formed a group consisting of aspiring models and actresses who would often get entrapped in her net for easy money," the officer said.

According to police, Punjaban was married to a criminal called Vijay before he was killed in a shootout. Later, she married another criminal, Hemant, who was also subsequently gunned-down in a shootout involving both the Delhi and Gurgaon Police.

"She has a large number of male pimps who support her as far as ancillary activities such as providing transportation, arranging potential customers and a place are concerned," said the officer.
