The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) that has set standards for best construction practices in the Capital will now provide consultancy to public-private transport projects in the country.
The Government of India has chosen a consortium comprising DMRC to provide advisory support to central and state governments and municipalities for the implementation of public-private projects, a DMRC official said.
“This would give us the opportunity to provide our expertise beyond Metro railway, more particularly to other forms of Urban Transport and even PPP projects in the rail sector,” said DMRC spokesman Anuj Dayal. DMRC is already acting as a consultant for all other Metro projects in other cities in India. It is also providing consultancy to Metro systems coming up in other countries such as Ireland, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Vietnam.
The consortium, lead by DMRC, also comprises advisory firm Feedback Ventures Pvt Ltd, law firm Hemant Sahai Associates and US-firm Bankworld Inc that was included to give an international touch to the consortium, Dayal said.
“The consortium was chosen after an empanelment process carried out by the Ministry of Finance through international competitive bidding to select advisers that will determine the suitability and feasibility of PPP projects,” he said.
