Metro commuters have reasons to cheer. In a fresh order issued by the Delhi police, all restrictions imposed on the Metro service for Thursday morning have been lifted.

“Fresh instructions issued by the Delhi Police state that Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat Metro stations will remain open for the public from 6 am on Thursday and all the entry gates of the Rajiv Chowk Metro station will also remain open on the same day according to normal timings,” said a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson.

According to the earlier order, the Patel Chowk and Central Secretariat stations were supposed to remain closed till 11 am. There were also restrictions at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.

“The marathon route does not fall in these areas and hence it will not be a major problem to manage traffic if these Metro stations remain operational. Besides, Thursday being a declared holiday, the footfall in these Metro stations will not be huge,” said Ajay Chadha, Special commissioner of police (traffic).

On Thursday, restrictions on movement of general traffic have been imposed between midnight and 10:30 am on Connaught Place, Sansad Marg, Ashoka Road, Rajpath, Janpath, Dr Rajender Prasad Road, Red Cross Road, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg.

Spectators, entering the stadium through gate number 6, should alight at Jor Bagh Metro station and take DTC shuttle bus to Fourth Avenue and use the pedestrian bridge. Spectators using gate no 9, should take Metro up to Jangpura. Those entering through gate number 14, should take a Metro to JLN Stadium station.
