A man working for a placement agency allegedly raped a minor girl who he brought to the Capital promising her a job.
The police said the 14-year-old was brought to Delhi from Chhattisgarh in July and wrongfully confined in a room in Punjabi Bagh in West Delhi. Six days later, she was raped in the same room by the man who brought her.
The police arrested Kaleshwar for allegedly raping her along with the owner of the placement agency, Rudal, and a woman, Sangeeta, who all conspired to wrongfully confine her.
The police said the accused also burnt her clothes after raping her.
After being raped, the girl was employed as a domestic help in Kirti Nagar. The matter came to light after she became pregnant.
The police said that her employer gave her some medicines, resulting in a miscarriage. "We have registered a case of rape," said a police officer.
Often cases of sexual exploitation in placement agencies are not reported to the police. "These girls are from poor backgrounds and do not have the courage to report the matter. It is only when NGOs intervene are cases registered," said a senior police officer.
