A 55-year-old man was stabbed to death by his disgruntled ex-employee in Kalkaji on Thursday night. The police said the accused is a minor and was allegedly angry at his employer for not paying his salary for the last two months.

The incident happened at the house of the victim, Jagannath Patra (55) in A-Block, Double Storey, Kalkaji around 10:30 pm. According to police, Patra owned a shop in a market in Chittaranjan Park for the last many years and used to live alone in the rented house.

The police said that two months ago, Patra employed a 17-year-old boy from Almora in Uttaranchal.

During interrogation, the accused alleged that Patra mistreated him from the start.

“He told us he had not been paid his salary for the last two months. Whenever he asked for his salary, Patra allegedly abused him and refused to pay up,” said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.

The police said that some time ago, the accused left the job and started working elsewhere. “But almost everyday, he would go to his employer's shop and ask for his dues. First Patra allegedly said he would pay in some time but later refused to pay. They got into a few fights at the shop as well,” added the officer.

The police said that on Thursday night, the accused went to the house of the victim and again got into an argument with him.

The police said that in a fit of rage, the accused picked up a kitchen knife and allegedly stabbed the victim several times. The police said that neighbours, alarmed by the commotion, informed them about the incident.

“We knew the accused had not been able to go far and asked residents of the locality to join us in searching for the accused. We found him hiding on the terrace of a house,” added the officer.
