This was one case that kept southwest district police on their toes for over three days. A 17-year-old boy went missing from his home along with Rs 25 lakh and a tenant from the nearby house since Wednesday. What was worse was that a girl, their neighbour, was also kidnapped the same night.
But the police heaved a sigh of relief when the boy and the girl were rescued from Yamuna Nagar in Haryana on Saturday.
It later turned out to be a love story. According to police, the boy and girl had fled to Yamuna Nagar and the tenant of the nearby house had given them shelter as their families had been against the relationship.
“Narender Singh of Raghu Nagar filed a complaint that his 17-year-old daughter had been kidnapped by a juvenile. During investigation, it also came to light that their neighbour, Surender was missing too,” Anil Kumar Ojha, DCP (southwest) said.
As the boy had run away with a huge amount of cash, police feared that Surender could eliminate them for money. On examination, the girl disclosed that she was an adult and was in love with the boy for the past one year but their families were against their relationship.
The police have ruled out Surender’s role in the case.
