The notorious 'Mirchi gang' that gave the city police sleepless nights in the past is back. On Tuesday night, a 25-year-old delivery boy of a gas agency was shot at and the cashier beaten up before they were robbed allegedly by four members of the 'Mirchi gang' in Sultanpuri area. The victims were riding a motorcycle and carrying the day's earnings in a bag.

The owner of the gas agency claimed the robbers took away R7 lakh but the police rubbished the claim saying the victims told them that the bag contained a cash register and Rs 1,800 in cash.

"At 10.15pm, the two victims were waylaid by four men and one of them unsuccessful attempt to throw red chilli powder in their eyes," BS Jaiswal, DCP (outer), said.
